From the school website, Swedish Inst is no longer taking new students.  Instead, it appears that Mr. Yuen will be teaching a track on Classical Chinese Medicine, at PCOM that is open to all of PCOM's student body.  It appears that Swedish Inst is focused more on its massage therapy programs and wants to get out of acupuncture.

This is an economic coup for NY PCOM.

Bob,
You are right.  Kind of an interesting trend and follows in a similar vein to the PCOM-SD hiring of Giovanni.   I like the idea of more classical focus, yet not sure how that will be defined.  Wonder if there will be any tele-seminars with the other campus locations or continuing ed for LAc's that want more info in this area.

It appears Swedish wants to be more of a massage school.

No, it's because Swedish and PCOM were bought by the same company.  This is why I had such a difficult time with my application to Swedish two years ago, because it was in the process of being bought.  My understanding is that PCOM will focus on acupncture and medicine, and Swedish on massage, but this is a decision made by the company that bought them, which is Quad Partners.  http://www.quadventures.com/c1_current.php

Just PCOM-NY or all of PCOM (SD & Chicago too)?

Bob,

Looks kind of like it from the website listing all their schools.  What now, I can only wonder?

I did not know that PCOM had sold its schools.  Good to know.  Wonder how this will affect their programs.
